Experience & Education

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electronic and Information Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).
Certified as an international digital forensics expert with the ACE (AccessData Certified Examiner) credential.

Experience

My journey began at a high-end computer repair workshop in the Golden Computer Centre, Sham Shui Po. It was a time when hard drive failures were rampant, and I personally handled tens of thousands of Seagate and Western Digital drives with damaged read/write heads or corrupted firmware.

I later joined a renowned data recovery laboratory in Hong Kong as a senior engineer, specializing in logical-layer fault analysis and file system reconstruction for NTFS, HFS+, and APFS.

Currently, I serve as Technical Director at PandaOffice, where I led the optimization of the underlying scanning algorithms for Drecov software. These improvements significantly boosted recovery success rates, particularly for cases involving Seagate hard drive partition table loss and formatted data recovery.

Education

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) – B.Eng. in Electronic and Information Engineering.

Life

I am a passionate film photography enthusiast, drawn to the tangible nature of capturing images on physical media. This fascination with preserving memories in a physical form has naturally shaped my professional sensitivity toward safeguarding digital data in today’s tech-driven world.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking the MacLehose Trail. I often draw parallels between data recovery and trekking—both require immense patience and careful navigation to reach the goal.

I also love disassembling electronic devices and frequently share videos of vintage storage equipment teardown on social media, helping others understand hardware maintenance and the inner workings of technology.
